I have a Doppelganger named David Evans. David is the founder of Psychster, (more info) an online psychological research specializing in the social science of social networking. He wrote to let us know about You Just Get Me, a Facebook application launched in October that helps people analyze whether others are forming accurate personality impressions of them from their online profiles. The site, which gives you an immediate accuracy score using linear statistics, is based on Funder’s (1999) Realistic Accuracy Model.
After users rate themselves on a 40-question personality inventory, people who visit their profile form an impression of them by answering the same 40 questions about the profile owner. Both parties immediately receive an accuracy score that indicates whether the impression matched the truth. The profile owners learn what image they are projecting, and the visitors learn how good they are at what Evans calls “online mind-reading.”
Facebook is not letting me add the application, something about an endless redirect. That’s not good.
Here’s a link to my profile.
Personal DNA is a competitor.

Here is my Youjustgetme test
http://img176.imageshack.us/my.php?image=feryjgmyk7.jpg
and the result of the Guessing Game
http://img338.imageshack.us/my.php?image=guesgamle8.jpg I detected a lot of persons under 24 years old (perhaps with personality not consolidated yet)
I also took the personaldna test (in English and I do not know the norms they use to score the test. Normative tests should be administered in the native language of the test taker and scored using national norms for that language group, e.g. English for Australia, English for Canada, English for India, English for South Africa, English for the United Kingdom, English for the United States)
Here is my report

I see Youjustgetme and PersonalDNA more for entertainment purposes than for serious dating.
Interesting to remember
http://www.ipat.com/level3/level3.php?Measuring%20the%20Big%205
Measuring the Big 5
For example, Big Five theories and analyses by Costa and McCrae; Goldberg, Fiske, Tupes and Christal; Wiggins; Norman; Digman; and other contemporary researchers are all extensions of Cattell’s work with IPAT’s 16 Primary Factors or based on 16PF data. More than 50 published studies have replicated the basic structure of these traits as consistent, broad measures of normal personality. Although Cattell had an important theoretical difference with more recent researchers (Cattell rejected the assumption that each factor was largely unrelated to the others), there is strong similarity across the three most commonly accepted five-factor models, despite differences in the names of the factors:
Cattell: Extraversion, Stability, Receptivity, Accommodation, Self-Control
Goldberg: Surgency, Emotional Stability, Intellect, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness
Costa&McCrae: Extraversion, Neuroticism, Openness, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness
Because the Big Five groups the more specific primary-level factors, feedback organized around the five Global Factor scales is more easily understood. For detailed feedback or predictive purposes, one should assess the more specific primary factors. Research has shown that more specific factors like the primary scales of the 16PF Questionnaire predict actual behavior better than the Big 5 Global Factors. For example, one extravert (a bold, fearless, high-energy type) may differ considerably from another (a sweet, warm, sensitive type), depending on the extraversion-related primary scale score patterns, so deeper analysis is typically warranted.

YouJustGetMe is more than just an application for Facebook. If you log onto the original site you can create a profile and have others guess you to see how accurate they are at getting your personality just from answering a few questions. You can also test your skills and guess others by opening the brown clipboard at the top of the page.
For example:
To guess David Evans go to youjustgetme.com/docdave
At the top of the page there is a brown bar that says “Guess docdave Now”. Click the yellow “Open +” and you can now try to guess David’s personality by answering 40 questions.
You can also play the Guessing Game where you try to guess one part of someone’s personality from their picture alone.
Good luck and have fun guessing!

Since the biggest complaint of dating site subscribers is misrepresentation, a partial solution is a LEGITIMATE compatibility test that discourages lying.
Wanna see one that takes 15 minutes and is more engaging and powerful than e-harmony’s test? Go to http://www.ButterfliesAgain.com, check it out and talk to me…I believe this test, and it’s rigorous scientific cred, is the best available anywhere for well-matched love.

Unfortunately, the Butterflies_Again_Compatibility_Test (24 questions) is an IPSATIVE instrument that profiles your behavioral patterns in four well_researched dimensions of relationships, based on the Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation Behavior test, aka: FIRO B self_report instrument.
From http://butterfliesagain.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=34
“Note: Although statistical_relation tests have not been performed, the key factors that ButterfliesAgain measures (sociability, submissiveness/dominance and intimacy) were derived from the Firo_B test of interpersonal compatibility.”
FIRO theory (William C. Schultz, 1958)
* Every individual has 3 interpersonal needs: inclusion, control and affection.
* Distinguishes between “expressed” and “wanted”
* Ipsative tests are person_centered (don’t allow comparison across a population)
At http://www.butterfliesagain.com/ says:
“The goal is to predict interpersonal compatibility. Your results will match you with a partner that is likely to be a good relationship fit.”
The compatibility/affinity between prospective mates is only a 2 integer figure like 75%.
Unfortunately with a 2 integer figure, the WHOLE PRECISION of the matching algorithm is less than any client could achieve searching by his/her own!!!!
[I had been saying this problem of Online Dating sites offering compatibility matching since years and that is because I had invented a quantitave method to solve that!!!
Example for the matching algorithm I had invented
- Ensemble (whole set of different valid possibilities): 1 * E16 whith 16PF5
- Precision: better than 0,00000001% with Self-Adjustment
3 most compatible persons in a 100,000 persons database,
12 most compatible persons in a 1,000,000 persons database,
48 most compatible persons in a 10,000,000 persons database,
- Results are displayed with 2 integers + 8 decimals, like 92.55033557% +/- 0,00000001%
]
I think to *discourage lying*, the best combination is a USD 300 annual membership fee and the 16PF5 test!
The 16PF5 is a NORMATIVE & well known test used by job recruiters, ready from 1949, available in different languages and no other actual online dating site is using it!!!

Fernando, I respectfully differ with you. My test, short, engaging and powerful is designed PRECISELY to match couples quickly and accurately.
In fact, as I note in my validity study, those couples in the group that score highest in compatibility compare VERY favorably with married couples who score high on relationship satisfaction based on the DAS (Dyadic Adjustment Scale), a widely respected instrument with half a century of use.
Subjecting individuals to an individual personality test like the 16PF is not a good idea. It is not relational and serves the website owner, rather than the consumer, the subscriber. Subscribers will not, rightfully, be receptive.
What’s more, my test is derived from factors as you studiously noted, that have been researched for 5o years and found very helpful.
I might add, that it seems as if you are putting down the competition (ButterfliesAgain.com) unfairly to boost your own work. That is not the scientific way…Dr. Joel Block

Dear Dr. Block:
Reverse engineering will show you that compatibility between prospective mates expresed with a 2 integer figure (like 75%), the WHOLE PRECISION of the matching algorithm is less than any client could achieve searching by his/her own!!!!
So you can not claim “is more engaging and powerful than e-harmony’s test? Go to http://www.ButterfliesAgain.com, check it out and talk to me…I believe this test, and it’s rigorous scientific cred, is the best available anywhere for well-matched love.” and “My test, short, engaging and powerful is designed PRECISELY to match couples quickly and accurately.”
Which is
the Ensemble (whole set of different valid possibilities) of the method you had invented?
and
the Precision?
Suppose you have a 10,000,000 persons database;
Which is the average_compatible_persons_for_one_person?
like: 48 most compatible persons in a 10,000,000 persons database

Dear Fernando,
I appreciate your interest. But the evaluation of my test among couples is not theoretical, it is completely functional. It has been demonstrated to work quickly and accurately.
I respect your background in engineering, but I am afraid when it comes to matching couples, my approach, as a psychologist, is proven to be state of the art.
I believe the most effective approach is also the simplest, least complicated approach. A quick review of http://www.ButterfliesAgain.com makes it obvious that it is simple with obvious face validity and solid scientific backing.
I suggest we leave it at that.
Best regards, Joel
