eTwine Changes Name to SNAP Interactive

by David Evans on December 20, 2007 in Dating Industry Finance

eTwine Holdings, Inc., a leading provider of social networking applications, has announced the change of the company’s name to SNAP Interactive, Inc. SNAP is derived from the acronym for “Social Networking Application Provider.” In conjunction with its name change, the Company’s ticker symbol will change to STVI effective Friday, December 14, 2007.

SNAP Interactive initially created the “Are You Interested” application as a traffic driver to its online dating Web site IamFreeTonight.com. Are you Interested has gone massively viral, with over 5 million users. That said, you have to invite people from your contact list to be able to take advantage of the application. That drives me crazy and fills my inbox with junk mail. Just because 5 million people tried it doesn’t mean that it’s a worthwhile application.

SNAP is bound to do very well in monetizing social applications. While I have eTwine a lot of grief for previous sites like IamFreetonight, it looks like they are on the success track, at least for the moment.
The press release says that eHarmony has a Facebook application. Heck, I can’t event find the Match .com Black Book on Facebook. If you have a link, leave a comment please.
SNAP (STVI) is up .33% to $1.05.
