I think the ideal owner for webdate is someone who wants to start a dating site with the intention of doing some modification to the site and turning it into what they want to see.

Most of the complaints from users (in my opinion) stem from there own haphazard mistakes, which could have been circumvented had they actually read the documentation in the first place.

What i just said is not indigenous to just webscribble but ALL software companies. As a former IT support person myself I recount answering thousands of emails and phone calls with included a part about “Did you read the manual or documentation etc etc ”

Plus the most important fact is “There is no ONE software that is all things to everyone.” People seem to forget this fact

I would certainly love to hear from someone who can recommend a descent dating script. My target market does not seem to be interested in many of the features that social networking scripts offer.

I would also love to find someone who is great at modifying code on a freelance basis. Unfortunately, it’s tough to wade through all the garbage out there.

In my personal opinion, there is NOTHING WRONG with bloggers using aff links, provided they recommend that product as opposed to trying to pitch anything where they can make a quick buck. Genuine bloggers can actually save me time and money and I would not mind supporting that through an aff link at all.

That post showed up because I am redoing the Tools & Services and it made sense for the directory listing to be a blog post so people could subscribe to it, post comments, etc. I’m only 1/2 way done with it at this point.

I would pay close attention to the commenter’s on the blog and other related message boards that I’ve linked to. When it comes to picking a dating site system, they’re the ones with the most experience.

I’ve heard mixed reactions about all dating site systems, some people love Boonex, some Webscribble. It’s a mixed bag of results from what I can tell.

I was impressed with the suite of services offered by Webscribble when I did the interview. Their customer services does seem a bit spotty.

I’m amazed that one company has not come in and taken over the market for dating sites. Quite an opportunity, whereas there are lots of very good social networking systems out there, which may be worth looking into, especially if you’re a free site.

Have you heard anything more about their level of customer service?

I’ve called their sales department a couple of times with some questions and I must say I have been underwhelmed.

I currently run aeDating and have been thinking about webDate. When I called the sales support line to ask about migrating my aeDating database to webDate the sales guys could not say how much it would cost until they saw the database structure.

According to a previous post on your site “interview with websribble” where you interview Alexander (who happens to own/run the company) he says “We actually have many customers who have converted from aeDating to webDate.”

If they have many customers who are converting, how is it they don’t know the database structure?

Given the fact your link to webscribble is an affiliate link, I’m just trying to determine if you are really impressed with them or just trying to sell their product.

Please don’t take this personally but one of the most difficult things about the internet is trying to determine what is a recommendation vs. a sales pitch.

PS. Although their basic licence is $199 – if you add on a couple of basic apps to bring the site up to decent standards, you can quickly hit the $500 dollar mark. I have asked for a small customization of the forum plug in and the price has now increased by $750 (10 hours at $75 per hour).
