Hitwise has released research findings showing smaller alternative social networking sites continue to gain traction. Lots of good stats if you follow the link. My favorite is that nearly half–48%–of brand marketers plan to use social marketing tactics in the next year, compared to 38% who did so last year, according to Jupiter Research. The percentage growth percentage aren’t very interesting unless you know the real number of members and visitors. Touting 180% growth when thats only a few hundred thousand people isn’t exactly seismic change.
