5k of WASTED $$ on webdate and webjobs. Out of the box it doesn't even work. Terrible support. Terrible script and NOBODY can develop for it. Period. I couldn't even get the damn sites off the ground with a $95 an hour team of coders that I paid to fix this shit software. It was just too buggy. Dont be fooled by the \1000 sites use our software\ BS. My team of college educated programmers couldnt get it stable enough after 7 months to launch. Its just plain shit

I too bought webscribble dating solution. I am having a hard time getting customer support to assist me with my site. I am also having problems having them install a paypal script to my site. It's been two months and they can't seem to help me. I am not looking at other dating site options and hiring programmers to help me with the site.

So what dating software do you guys recommend?
Out of "reliable, scalable, extendable, the right price" I choose "reliable, scalable, extendable".

I'd really appreciate any recommendations that you have.
Thanks

While the product is okay, webScribble support is painful and unconcerned. Once they have you buy the product, they just don't care. I bought a paypal plugin about 100 hours ago and I still can't get it to work right. When i contacted sales, they threw their hands up and suggested that the only way is to contact the Support team - which hardly responds to you. I raised a ticket with the complete problem description and some supporting reasons too. I get a totally unrelated response. If they even cared to read what I wrote, their response would put them to shame. I regret my association with webScribble. I still have about some 40 open support tickets - including my paypal plugin installation which i bougt 4 days ago. Unfortunately, there is no way to reach higher ups. Or don't they care about it themselves? Don't they know their support is ZERO?? Sigh...Since i put in my money, there is little that i can do but wait. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND WEBSCRIBBLE TO ANYONE EVER!

I am a user of Webscribble and have had it for over a year now. Just upgraded to version 3.0 and it's quite buggy. I have given up contacting their support people and support tickets are lost for months and I actually waited 5 months for them to reply after I asked them the cost for them to upgrade to version 3.0 - after all that time and several support tickets they replied back telling me that is was an additional cost for them to do it...DUH I asked how much! Anyway, I have had a quick learning curve using 3.0 and it does have better features like blogs for members and SMS access and is simpler for novices to get around updating their site.

And the bad side you still can't re-order photos as they have been uploaded eg. Change a standard photo to a main photo without deleting the lot and uploading them in the order you want them.

The only bad thing I can say is that their after sales service sucks, their product isn't bad though a little buggy but nothing you would tear your hair out about. If they had better support staff (and they do have SOME stars but unfortunately they don't work 24/7) :) then they would have many more customers and people who would trust them to put their entire site maintenance in their hands regardless of cost because you would know they are the experts and know they can fix any issue quickly.

Dave,

Thanks for the GPLdate mention. Yes - I know the name is generic - but our goal is to keep the software GPL (open source) now and into the future, thus the GPL part. As for the "date" part - well - since all of these scripts are morphing into dating and community scripts - maybe something else would have been better. Anyways - the name is easy to change if needed later. :)

We registered the GPLdate domain a year ago, in 1995 - but never launched it since aeDating was still commercial software. While we were pressured to do so by many people, we really were unable to until Dolphin 5.3 came out as GPL, due to legal and moral issues.

With that behind us, our goal now with GPLdate is a reliable, scalable, extendable, plus also secure and upgradable - dating / community script - at the right price. Maybe all 6 are are impossible - if I need to give up one of them - it would be the extendable one, as we hope to have most of what admins need already in the package.

After working on this codebase for 2.5 years, doing aeDating and Dolphin mods on ModMySite, we know it well and have quite a bit of enhancements lined up. Our current focus has been fixing bugs and security issues inherited from the Dolphin 5.3 GPL release.

In anycase - I hope anyone reading this will give us a try at http://www.modmysite.com and http://www.gpldate.com and check out whats going on.

Warm regards,

Rob (Smoge)

We would like to point out that ModMySite is not the only resource available for the now "abandoned" aeDating consumers who thought they were getting a real value for the hard cash they laid out to AeWebWorks for lifetime support and upgrades. Boonex claims to have gone GPL with their product set but the reality of it is that they are just continuing with the consumer scam by forcing monthly payments for service and support they originally provided with the huge price tag they charged for the aeDating software. If you are an aeDating Legacy customer and need support for your operation, check out AllAboutDatingSites.com
