hi how r you?
my name is Jay and have recently created a website for real dating using secondlife. Its new {8weeks old} so go and have a look it would be great to hear from you maybe u can do something with it in terms of a article or tv newspiece. I really think meeting in a virtual world and dating go together well as u can focus and get to know somebody without having to give away personal details such as email. mobile numbers. Alot has been in the press recently regarding the security aspects of certain sites which is why i have instant chat send ppl fotos and my island so you can build some trust with the person who u r chatting to before actually meeting them ! Alot of sl users are single but only want to date in world so this site is beneficial fopr everybody who is seriouly in to dating as u can meet some wonderful ppl on sl and get quite intimate using the virtual platform more so than with sites like facebook and so on. H ope to hear from you soon thankyou

SecondLife is what you make of it. There is no denying that much of what is evil in this world has found its way there, but much of what is good and beautiful has as well. Real life is the same way, you get out what you put in.

Marriages in real life are threatened by this virtual world....I can attest to this fact. My fiancee was involved in SL and was falling in love with a fantasy/ She was too married and felt it was OK since SL is only a fantasy world. It has totally broke down the trust I had in him, knowing that it was that easy for him in a fantasy world.

To Miriam the reporter:

Second Life is not a game, but a virtual reality that contains every addiction trigger there is. To an addict, this Internet interaction is quite unhealthy. Cybersex is the most common activity there. Drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc are prevalent.

SecondLife is geared more towards entertaining others or being part of the audience. Social interaction on a more intimate basis would require a much better chat interface than SecondLife offers. When the desktop character set was expanded beyond 127, text-only chat interfaces of the 1980's became available that were far more user friendly than the interface being used in SecondLife, today.

regards,

Joe

Aloha and thank you for the write up on my website Dave.

I am the owner of DigiLuv.com and Hawaii SIM. It may seem easy to find a date but the idea of my sim and website is to link the outside internet world with my VR world in SL. The idea of my sim is to show the contrast of sex and love. One thing you will find on my Hawaii some is that you can feel the Aloha Sprit and at the same time meet someone from a far and have feelings with them without ever meeting them in real life. In many ways my Hawaii sim has help others to learn about relationships and them selfs and to find a place for relaxation from the real life world. Some day I would like to make all the Hawaiian islands in SL for all to share the aloha. But DigiLuv.com helps the new comers to find someone to spend time with and gives a bit more detail about the persons Real Life person and their avatar. Some have even got married in my SIM and many have fallen in love.

Aloha

My online avatar has gone out on a few dates since I have joined SL, but this is of limited relevance to my real life, since my avatar is a girl and I am a boy. Mine is an extreme case, but everyone's avatar looks significantly different from their real life self... I don't know how you get around that. Even if you say looks don't matter, how are women supposed to know who the tall men are in real life when almost every SL avatar is between 6 and 8 feet tall.
