Rate a Date Sites Sued More Often

by David Evans on June 12, 2006 in Uncategorized

Anonymous posters to various Rate-a-Date sites are putting the services in hot water. A new site, Don’t Date Him Girl, is being sued because someone posted false information about a member.

I’ve always said, these sites are as useful as the authenticity of the members. Countless sites have sprung up over the past few years, each with varying standards about what and how people can post reviews of others. It’s too bad people aren’t able to easily decide on a central service, which is the only way these sites will be truly useful.

Over at Theprogessbar I have been writing more about online identity and reputation. Companies like Rapleaf are approaching the issue and getting millions in funding because they have a business model that makes sense. There is plenty of room for reputation management in the online dating space for the company that approaches it with the right blend of features, security, partnerships and marketing.
