Matchmakers & Traditional Dating Services Report

by David Evans on April 8, 2006 in Dating Research

This new home for this page is here.

Before you spend anywhere from $1,500 to upwards of $50,000 on a matchmaker or traditional dating service you owe it to yourself to be as well-informed as possible.

The first step is being aware of all your options. There are many matchmakers out there to choose from and that certain matchmakers may be a better fit for you and your circumstances that others (geographic, financial, demographic to name a few).

You’re about to place a great deal of trust, responsibility, and a good deal of money into the hands of a complete stranger. It can be overwhelming to look up matchmakers in the phone book or an internet search engine and it’s not exactly the type of question you ask your friends at a cocktail party.

To help you get up to speed I am providing two reports. These in-depth reports contain everything you’ll need to choose the matchmaker or service which is right for you.

One covers matchmakers, the other covers traditional offine dating serivces. Both reports help you answer questions such as “What services can I trust?”, “How much will it cost?”, “How do they operate” and “What should I expect?”

david you have got to be so careful with those ‘reports’. Sometimes matchmakers pay to be included, and they are rarely objective. And so many of these people are just plain nuts. Kailen Rosenberg is a good example of someone who takes huge fees up front and rarely delivers. She’s been sued several times and was the subject of an expose in a major newspaper. And yet she keeps resurfacing every few years as a “top” matchmaker.

    Gunther,
I recently met Kailen and had a very similar impression to what you describe above. Can you provide me with where I can get info on these lawsuits and which newspaper had an expose and when?

I can confirm that the fees are huge and way out of line. Especially for a company whose founder and matchmaker has no college degree for counseling people. It’s all a fraud. You are better off doing something on line or another service

I actually spent quite a bit of time recently checking out Kailen Rosenberg/ The Love Architects. First, I checked her Better Business Bureau Rating which is actually an A+ (unheard of for a matchmaker as I have come to find out). I also talked to her staff and her matchmaking programs start at $2,500 and she is willing to customize programs for each client. It is true that her high-end program with all the bells and whistles including life coaching and love shopping (whatever that is?) starts at $25,000 for the year. I also asked about her educational background/credentials – it seems that she is self-made relying on her life experience and 17 years in business – although she has some accreditation through the University of St. Thomas. I am impressed so far seems like she is the only ‘elite’ matchmaker who focuses on healthy relationships and is interested in matching quality people on many different levels. I could not find any lawsuits or newspaper articles referenced in this blog.

    Gunther,
Do have the date of the newspaper article, Gunther. A friend of mine has signed on with her and is having buyer’s remorse already. He just needs to know for sure, what he suspects.
    Much thanks, if you can.

That is not the case for this report, which is the only one I’ve found. If you know of others, let me know. As for singling out a specific matchmaker, on what grounds do you base the accusation?

Valenti International November 30, 2006 at 9:48 pm

I doubt that they would pay to get into those reports.

    Miralvalle April 26, 2010 at 6:19 am

Valenti will pay to leave all the proof of their scam out of online world. Valenti International is nothing but an expensive blind date service. They only introduce you to 2 to 3 matches per year, their concierge experience is nothing but an expensive It’s Just Lunch experience where they set the date/time/restaurant. Not a personalized experience nor mentored process. Feedback has to be submitted online and everything you call in to speak to one of their psychologists they question why? their three year contract is noghting but a set up to let the statue of limitation run out for clients not to sue them. You are better off paying boutique matchmakers our of Los Angeles area or Kelleher International who for the same fee will give you more introductions within a year-contract

I am shocked to see someone who knows so little about someone utter such negative information. Especially about someone who is so genuine and caring about the success of her clients. You obviously haven’t worked with Kailen personally, or if you have, couldn’t follow her advise. Kailen introduced my sister and her husband 9 years ago, and today because of that introduction, they have two incredible kids. Kailen preaches being healthy yourself before you can love someone else, and sticks to that. My sister went through some hard times in the beginning with Kailen, believing that her sh#@ didn’t stink and that all men were intimidated by her, until Kailen came along. She gave it to her straight. And because of a bit of pushed self-awareness, she found the love of her life. Shame on you for not checking your information further. Every business owner has some complaints, but this is not one to put in the same catagory as the others who don’t give a damn.

Dazed, I just sell the report. I’ve met Kailen and many other Matchmakers. You have addressed a big problem, how to judge them without throwing them all into the same boat. The majority of matchmakers, good and bad, have legal problems, that’s just part and parcel with the industry. Glad your sister found happiness through Kailen.

Dear Mr. Gunther, With all due respect, I think it wise to be careful in what you extend as knowledge, and seek all information before extending such harsh and clearly bias judgement, especially when there are so many who seek and deserve to find a place of safety for their investment. We all know this is a corrupt industry, I have experienced it personally, more than once. I have to say that It is clear by your accusations that this is personal for you, and it is clear that you really don’t know Ms Rosenberg. I am a client of Kailen’s and have been for over 2 years, of whom I continue to return for services. I had a friend recommend that I meet with Kailen years ago, and I’m glad that I did. It was another friend who I recently recommended meet with Kailen, who found this and brought it to my attention. I too did my research prior to retaining Kailen’s services, I am a retired attorney, that’s what we do. I am also well connected both in front of and behind the professional scene. What I found and heard was of great report, along with deep respect for her in her career. She has a bigger heart than most and is personally passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. To state that she is a ‘fraud’? You clearly don’t know her and have never worked with her. Perhaps you should. Lastly, to extend such enormous attention to education? What do you base education on? Seek to find out. I know many passionate successful beings who have blown it out of the park when it comes to success and helping others, with and without a college or formal degree. I suggest that you take this anger and need to spread gossip that is clearly based on a personal bias and meet with Ms. Rosenberg, she may be able to help you. As for the client of Kailen’s who is having buyers remorse? I have a hard time understanding that one, unless you aren’t communicating with her or telling her what you need? She’s typically good at getting it out of you if you’re not happy. I say take advantage of your investment and time with her, and let her do for you what she’s done for me. Good luck.
