does anyone know if there is a study on the Canadian Dating Services Market and its estimated size. I saw that the study above refers to Eruope being the next big market but is there any data on Canada?

Christine’s comment matches my customer experiences with online dating services. I’d really like to think there was a way to screen and see valid profiles from a service that actually screened women and men so that when you say you are looking for a HWP gal interested in mathematics and whatever you don’t get a billion search results that key’d on something stupid like hiking.

And I personally appreciat that she said it was cruel. It is. It hurts alot when you register in the hopes of finding a special friend or partner only to meet with rejection and disappointment.

I worked at The Right One briefly, and I can assure you that it is the biggest, cruelest rip off. “Get the money!” is the key – whether there are even any viable “matches” for that person is waaaay down on the list of priorities.

I finally left in disgust, as most employees do, in the hopes that karma will forgive my short time at this exploitative, disgusting place where they try to convince themselves that they are legit. They are not legit – the reality is greed, greed, greed.

Trust me, I saw it. Yuck.

I for one can say that the “Right” one service is deplorable. I think I might have just lost a good chunk of money and will have nothing to show for it. So far, my matches and I have been anything but compatible in all areas. I would tell people not to waste thier money. Go to the gym, grocery, park or church. Get yourself some new clothes and avoid all these apparent con artists.

I did not say we were “not well represented”. I said the data was not truthful and to add to that, no effort is made to make it so. John created a contentious relationship with those of us offline by publishing many things that were just plain wrong and never having called one of us to ask.

You say you “understand” that most of his data is primary. Is that short hand for he told you it is? Well, since you push his stuff so vigorously, why don’t you get him to show you all of his software programs that allow him to pull all of the data off of the web? I will gladly say he is the equal of ComScore and Nielsen if you tell me it is so. My belief is that he simply copys whatever they put out and does a nice job of binding it.

Robert, it’s the only report available on the dating industry that covers as much ground as it does (online and offline). As far as I understand, much of the research is primary, not secondary.

Unfortunate that you feel GE is not well-represented, suggest you take it up with the publisher, I’m sure John would respond.

Dave, when are you going to get off of this horse? John has anecdotal info at best and we (Great Expectations, Together, The Right One, have all proven his data to be flawed. His best answer to where he got data on our companies was “We interviewed some ex-employees.” Wow, how much more nebulous could his bs be?

It would appear that most of his data is only backed up by taking down what he sees that others have produced (think ComScore, Jupiter, Nielsen). What specific info does he gather from his own data collection and how is it gathered? He needs to prove up there is real data and not just a dated opinion at best.
