Safer Online Dating

by David Evans on December 27, 2005 in Dating Safety

What is up with the Safer Online Dating Alliance (SODA)? According to an ODI reader, all that’s known is that it’s run from a P.O. Box in Austin, you have to provide a lot of info to be able to even contact the organization and there doesn’t seem to be a detailed listing of current members. I’ve heard and read press releases at True.com, which is a member, along with 130 others such as the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, the International Union of Police Associations, the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, National Organization of Women-Florida Chapter.

Does anyone reading this belong to SODA? If so, leave a comment or email me at devans at corante dot com.

Safer Online Dating Alliance (SODA) members including the Florida Council
Against Sexual Violence, the International Union of Police Associations, the
Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, National Organization of
Women-Florida Chapter, online dating participants and businesses such as
True.com, an online dating service that currently conducts criminal background
screening on its communicating members. When the company first applied the
background and sexual offense screening service to their database, True.com
screened out 11 percent of site applicants.

Dave Do you think (SODA) will support True when these groups see the new porno ads True is running. How about when the details of the lawsuit Vest’s ex-fiancee filed becomes public.

This has to be one of the most stupid marketing decisions ever made. I think we need proof of that 11 percent. They claim they don’t want pervs, they are suing a guy, yet they are marketing to pervs.

Sure this is great for the sexual predators but um what about the Romance Scammers that lurk everywhere? True is one of the most infiltrated sites yet!
