James Currier, the Founder the Tickle, emailed to share that Tickle’s dating service, LoveHappens, got the highest customer satisfaction rankings from online customers of any online dating site. The study was done by Keynote Systems, who you may remember as a presenter at iDate last year.

James mentioned Keynote was just looking at the satisfaction of people using the site, not the overall numbers. That said, it’s clear that Monster drives a ton of traffic to LoveHappens.

I was quite surprised to learn of LoveHappens’ ranking, so I spoke with Keynote’s Dr. Bonnie Brown, in charge of Methodology & Research and Bonnie Morris, product manager.

We covered a lot of ground during our conversation, here are some of my notes. Thankfully, the press release is very thorough and contains a lot of interesting information.

According the Dr. Brown, the customer study was the most surprising.

Keynote measured responsed from 1,500 customers as they interacted with various popular dating sites.

They gather their data from a research panel which screened for having dating site accounts and can log into their existing service and provide feedback.

They polled 100 customers per dating site and constantly cycle the panel participants.

Yahoo! Personals is king when in terms of success in online customer acquisition.

Nearly twice as many prospective True customers described the site as “safe” and “trustworthy” as those prospective customers visiting other sites.

I was confounded at their inclusion of HappyMarriage (part of Tickle) and Lavalife and that American Singles edged out Eharmony.

Keynote’s Dating Services Report was done on a custom basis beginning and will be an annual report going forward. Contact me if you’re interested in learning more, as I’m trying to put together some research materials affordable by dating sites that may not necessarily have the $10,000 - $30,000 the larger dating sites pay for competitive research studies.

That study isn’t worth the paper its written on.

    1. Yahoo personals, true.com and americansingles convert to paid at a higher rate then match.com. I guess match.com must be doctoring its financial statements!

    2. lovehappens has the best homepage, search functionality and feature list. Like come on, does anyone actually believe that?

    3. Customer satisfaction? People like it when a site has actual members, that is more important to them then anything and lovehappens just ain’t happening.

Now as for the actual study its self. They have a total of 160,000 spyware installs. of that a total of 1500 used dating sites..

Now what is the probability that someone signs up to match.com vs lovehappens? I’m sure lovehappens is no where near 15% of match.com’s size.. So they pick 100 people from each service and rotate them.. uh huh.

Lovehappens has next to no membmers, and if they are choosing only members who had an existing account they are hitting the die hard users of love happens. Match.com on the other hand is so large and is used by the general population.
I think it should be obvious what the die hards have to say about love happens/tickle matchmaking. Especially when they’ve been using the system for months and it was crap and now its been totally redesigned.

I’m sure if i paid 20 grand i could get a completely bogus report made up about how much better my site is then everyone elses.

Clarification, LoveHappens did not pay for the report, they found out about it after the fact.

    Markus,

This is just an abstract overview of the study, not the full study document. The full study document is more than 100+ pages and examines more than 250 metrics at each site.

Take a look at the description of the methodology in the abstract document. Most other studies are heuristic and rely on expert opinions about the customer’s experience. The Keynote study actually monitored real customers and prospective customers as they interacted with these sites. That makes it more independent and more accurate/valid than any other study available for this industry.

I just wanted as many people as possible to know about these dating sites that are fake. Here is the text from someone who was on affairmatch.com:

As a guest member on this site, I was receiving quite a few unsolicite d e-mail inquiries from various ladies every few days. After I paid my 90-day membership fee, all incoming inquiries STOPPED completely . Further, when I wrote to the girls who had first written to me, it always took them 3 to 4 days to reply back and the replies ALWAYS lacked substance.

After talking about my experience with some other guys who had also been snookered by this site, we decided that most, if not all, of the women were totally bogus. They were there for the sole purpose of luring guys like me into paying their fee, then they never wrote again.

Thus, the site is a total fraud. A rip-off.

If you pay to use this site, you got ripped off, pure and simple.

If you are a paying member and have the ability to e-mail others, please look up who is currently listed as ONLINE. Then have it list only the males. Then copy and paste the contents of this profile into an e-mail from you to as many male members (both guest and paying) as you can.

And if you are not a paying member, my advice is not to pay to reply to any of the incoming e-mails you may have received. As attractive as any of them are, they are no more real than the babe you see shown in this profile.

    Good luck in your hunt.

I also had a very similar experience with Eroticity.com
