Online dating personals are getting more personal. New York Daily News on dating sites kicking out potential members based on service-specific parameters. My quotes got slightly bungled but overall the story is right on. Dating sites are increasing becoming more selective in the hope that higher-walls will improve their positioning in the crowded online dating market.

I am both intrigued by the possibilities of this approach, and shaking my head in disbelief.
Intrigued, because, frankly, a lot of losers popular online dating, and the competition for real prospects is fierce.
On the other hand, there are already too few people in too many places, even on the big four sites. Young women are particularly hard to come by; on many services here, there are as many guys who are 26 as there are women 19-29. So the last quote in the article you linked, “Still, people want that feeling of community. They want to know, ‘There are 750 six-foot transvestites within 10 miles of me.’” , is going to prove to be a bug, not a feature, because in most locales, there won’t be 750 six-foot transvestites (beautiful blondes/available pit bull lovers/single techie geeks with nice eyes/single late-20s religious nuts) in the area of the lonely single.
Online dating is a great way to get yourself out there in the dating world and see who/what’s available. There are some people who fear the bar scene and feel more comfortable with meeting someone online. The reverse is true as well. However, push comes to shove your best way of meeting someone is using all of the tools and opportunities available to you. Online/internet dating is a great tool!
Dating is a hard thing to figure out – meaning where you’ll meet the right one. You never know where/when or how. My motto is to continue doing the searching via the net. Try as many new sites as you can find and just put yourself out there. The right person will eventually find you if you put yourself out there to be found.
Anyone know of any new up and coming sites out there? I figure that inorder for me to find my dream woman I’ll post all over the place. It can’t hurt – if anything I end up having tons to gain!
I’ve found a few good sites – would love to hear feedback from others. Match.com is pretty ok, I also happen to like the Yahoo Personals. I tried EHarmony.com, but didn’t think much of the site. You know, what really freaks me out is that many of these sites don’t have a real privacy policy. I feel like my information can be ripped off from me at any given time. I’d feel much better with a site that is a bit more discreet, offers privacy and even has a screening process so that I know I’m not dating creeps… If you know of any, please post and let me know which one’s and what’s workin best for you. Thanks!
Trino – depending what faith you’re looking for there are some great sites out there that won’t make you feel disgusted. I’m personally of the Jewish faith and have found a new site called http://www.sawyouatsinai.com. It offers a ton of privacy and has matchmakers who do searches for you. I’ve found this site to be extremely trust worthy in that all of my information is private and I don’t have losers scanning my profile – it’s all done by trusty matchmakers. I think more sites like this should be created and I’m always looking for this type of site to evolve. Don’t get down with dating – it’s not worth it. Keep on searching to find your mate.
Has anyone heard of http://www.RetroMatch.com? Looking for some feedback on it.
Thanks!
I was reading some blogs, saw a new site posted and decided to check it out. http://WWW.RETROMATCH.COM -I just signed up (also found out that my friends did the same) and I’m waiting for my dating agent from RetroMatch.com to contact me. The site is definately worth looking into and it doesn’t cost anything to sign up on. Give http://www.RetroMatch.com a try and I’d love to share my experiences and hear yours.
Tommy – I’m actually a happy member of RetroMatch.com. It was by chance that I happened to have come upon the site, but I have to say that so far so good – I have a great dating agent who’s been helpful and has been giving me guidance re: dating process/scene. I have had a couple of dates which I found to be alot more suitable than most of the men I’ve met in the land of internet dating. I most definately recommend the site and have found RetroMatch to be one of the better site out there.
