I am listening to the call right now… Not Sure where Markus pulled his facts or theories on LL’s Advertising… but, and correct me if i am wrong, if he is incorrect, would it not be considered a malicious and false statement geared towards demeaning LL in the view of the industry at large… Granted, I only took one law class in college, but isn’t that Libel?

I am not calling Markus a liar… it’s just that I see him throwing a lot of “facts” around lately without any back up data…

I don’t watch the news because I hate getting part of the story… When Dating site owners start planting info in the media about their competitors without any back up, I have to wonder if the news is … for lack of a better term… Fair and balanced.

This is a blog not the New York Times. The expectation is clearly that readers are dating industry types who understand what’s going on at a basic.

True, I do not check every fact and figure that people send me, although I try to stick to the facts.

Most dating sites are performing far worse than they let on. Without transparency, we are left to put together the puzzle ourselves. Sometimes people do overstate things.

Read the press releases from the top dating sites, they attack each other all the time in supposedly news-related communications, pathetic.

I’m biased for and against many people and companies. I try not to let that shine through too often, except for the usual suspects.

People throw libel charges around here every once in a while. Have you ever read a technology story by someone like John Dvorak?

What i posted was clearly stated in the conference call. As for their use of spyware/adware the company they were using approached me and made a pitch using lavalife as a case study. Most of the pitches i see use eharmony, americansingles, tickle and webdate as a case study though.

I did a little digging and found LL was using other networks to. Here is a ad they had running on 180 solutions.
