How about people not liking True because a) they spam a lot while screaming they run the tightest ship in town and b) for feeding this push for ludicrous legislation on background checks? Those sound like solid reasons to me.

But you are right in that they have done great things with their marketing. As a business, I take my hat off to them, but I don’t think they are truly looking out for the good of the industry.

I know from personal experience that they do background checks alright — it is no marketing ploy! I’ve had memberships on several other “big” sites and I applaud TRUE for trying to make it safer. In fact, I’ve never had a bad experience on TRUE in over six months. Can’t the say for same for the other biggie sites I’ve joined.

Unlike “Markus” who “hears a lot of complaints about TRUE” (I take that to mean he is in the industry and is trying to pass along complaints to make his own service look better), I hear a lot of compliments about TRUE from ACTUAL USERS that I know personally! It seems like everyone is against TRUE because they are scared of this company’s growth and attention in the media. Sounds like jealousy!

I hear a lot of complaints about them, also to make it even harder to unsubscribe you are only allowed to call during certain hours of the day, and people complain the phones are always busy. It sounds like they are running a scam, and not a online business.

I don’t even believe they really do background checks on all their registrants. If they did why wouldn’t they notice the guy that appears in my search as two different people, but with the same photos? Yeah, I’m really feeling the safety on their site!! This also endorses the fact that people (rapists, murderers) can lie about who they are and get their profile posted on True. The whole background check hoopla is a joke and nothing more than a marketing ploy.

The other joke is Herb Vest’s claim that doing background checks will help reduce the divorce rate. Huh? Only rapists get divorced????

Do you think they did background checks on their fake profiles? I wonder how those were returned. Maybe they should rethink their legislative bills considering they can’t do background checks on fake people. :p
