Matchmaker rolling out IM service?

by David Evans on September 30, 2004 in Dating Industry Rumors

Today I was invited to participate in a MatchMaker focus group. When I was initially asked, I mentioned this blog, and my day job running ProfileDoctor.com right up front, to make sure they were ok with that, which they were. I figured that I would provide them with useful feedback while I learn more about what goes on in the minds of singles. I show up, then I’m whisked out of the room, given my $75 bucks and asked to leave. I can understand Matchmaker not wanting anyone from leaking there Secret Sauce(TM), but why did they choose to invite me in the first place? Grumble.

The focus group email stated that it was targeting people who use online dating and use instant messaging daily. Obviously Matchmaker is thinking about rolling out some sort of IM service. How much can that help?
