Match.com got into the volleyball match playing business for Spikefest. Three teams – two in 3-on-3 divisions and one in 5-on-5 – used the dating service to form its volleyball team. Neither 3-on-3 team won a game, but the 5-on-5 team went 1-3 in pool play before losing a tiebreaker with the Sets Pistols that determined the final spot into today’s bracket play from its pool.
“The first time I met my teammates was when I came out here to play,” said Andy Burke, 26, of Plano, one of the match.com players. “I just came out here expecting to have a good time and I did.”
